Passion week Programme-2008

1. 40 th day Lent Service is on Thurday , March 13. evening 7 PM.
Prayer at 7 PM followed by Holy Quarbana.
The service will be conducted by Fr. Shibu Yohannan.

2. VBS- Vacation Bible School. March 15/Sat. (Registration 9-10 am).
Please encourage the children to attend this very interesting function.

3. Followed by VBS, at 6 PM (on March 15. sat) , Prayer meeting.

4. Hosannah Service. Palm Sunday . March 16. Prayer at 9.00 AM ( please note earlier time) . Service at 9.45 AM.

5. For Passion week, there are daily programs as follows :
Sunday - March 16. evening : prayer at 7 PM.
Mon- March 17, 7 pm. prayer.
Tues- March 18, 7 pm. - prayer.
Maundy Thursday Service - Wed , March 19/ 7 PM. prayer and Service .

We will be celebrating our annual church Perunnal on August 25 & 26.
25 August : Evening Prayer at 5 P.M.
26 August : Morning Prayer at 8.45 AM. Service at 9.30 AM

Harvest Festival: August 2007

Harvest Festival will be conducted on August 25 at 6 PM.

Vacation Bible School August 2007

VBS will be conducted for Sunday School Students on Aug 25 Sat in the Church. It will be a great time and learning for the children.

His Grace Joseph Mor Gregorios Metropolitan, the Bishop of Kochi Diocese and the Episcopal Synod Secretary visited and celebrated the Holy Qurbana.

Church Perunnal and Harvest Festival 2006

We are celebrating the feast of St. Mary and the Harvest festival on 19th and 20th August 2006. Rev. Sr. Andrea Rita will be our chief guest for this occassion.

April 14 Good Friday Service starting at 9.00 Am

April 15 Saturday Service after Good friday Prayer at 9.00 Am and Service at 9.30 Am.

The Con-celebration of five altars (ANCHUMMEL Qurbana) - the most historic event for this church happened on this Sunday.It was lead by His Eminence Mor TITUS YELDHO our Arch Bishop, and were assisted by our Vicar Prince Mookkanottil, Joy Achan,Paulose Achan and James Achan. From 401 And 403 , Get To QEW.

From QEW East : Exit At Cawthra Road and Turn Left Going Cawthra
Road South.
From Qew West : Exit At Cawthra Road and Turn Right Going Cawthra Road
South.

Drive Through Cawthra Road Till You Get To Lakeshore Rd And Turn Right
Going Lakeshore Road West.

At 'Hampton Cres' Turn Left... Second Street On Lake Shore (Small
Street And No Signal..Opposite There Is A Shoppers Drugmart Store .If
You Reached Beechwood Avenue, You Are Gone Too Far)

Drive Along Hampton Cres to the end (Residential Area) till you see the
Sign For The Park And Merge Into The Parking Lot. This Parking Lot Is
Assigned For 'Shelter A'. 15 Feet To The West Side Is Our Shelter 'A'
And It Is At The Water Front.

If The Parking Lot is full, try to Park in the surrounding Residential
Streets where there is no Parking Restriction or Go to the Other Side
of the Park And Walk to our Area.

(If you have to go the other side, there is no way straight through and
so you have to go back to Lakeshore and Turn Right and Go Past Cawthra
Road and a few Streets Down you will see the sign for Park Promenade
and take a Right and Go All The Way Down And Park in one of the Parking
Lots and you can walk back to shelter 'A' Area through the side of the
water).

There are only 30 to 40 Parking Spaces at the Shelter 'A' assigned
Parking Lot and so please come in time.

St. Mary's Syrian Orthodox Church of Canada , in partnership with some initiating members, have celebrated the 75th birthday of Mr. Jacob Kuzhikattil on Apr 24/2005. Congratulatory messages were read out from our Theethos Thirumeni , Mr. Paul Martin ( Canada's Prime Minister), Mr. Navdeep Singh Bains ( Member of Parliament) and Fr. Joy John. Congratulations were also expressed by our Vicar , Secretary and various members. The Parish has presented a special momento to Mr. Jacob Kuzhikattil on this special occasion in appreciation of his contribution to the Parish.

This past Sunday Rev. Fr. Joy John established the St. Mary's Youth League. Kevin and Cynthia will be our youth secretaries for the coming year and will lead the first official meeting on May 8th. May the Lord guide this league to do good in his name and allow it to be a forum for the spiritual growth of the future of our parish.

This past Sunday, we have received the patriarchal bull No:E25/04 regarding the blessed consecration of our new shepherd His Eminence Mor THEETHOS YELDHO PATHICKAL who is consecrated as the Acrhbishop-Patriarchal Vicar of the Malankara Archdiocese of the Syrian Orthodox Church in North America on Jan 4/2004.

His Holiness the Patriarch of Antioch and all the East Mor Ignatius Zakka I Iwas ordained Very Rev. Ramban Yeldho Pathikkal as the Archbishop and Patriarchal Vicar of the Malankara Archdiocese in North America at the solemn function held at the St.Peter and St.Paul Cathedral in the Monastery of St.Aphrem the Syrian, at Ma'arrat Seydnaya, Damascus, Syria. The new Metropolitan was entrusted with the title 'TITHUS' during the consecration ceremony. His Grace will henceforth known by name 'Mor Tithus Yeldho'. Archbishops from different countries were present to grace the occasion: Mar Gregorios Joseph (Kochi), the synod secretary of Malankara Syrian Orthodox Church, Mar Julius Kuriakose- Secretary to His Holiness the Patriarch, H.G. Mor Osthathius Matharohom (Syria), Mor Severius Saka Musal (Iraq), Mor Silvanos Pathros (Homs), Mor Athanasius Elia Bahi (Patriarchal Assistant), Mor Cyril Aprem (America). Also were present the 1st secretary of the Indian Embassy in Damascus Mr.R.C.Manchanda, monks, nuns, friends and family members. At the end of the Holy ceremony, the newly consecrated Archbishop thanked His Holiness the Patriarch Mor Ignatius Zakka I Iwas and all those who were present. He pledged his fidelity to the church and promised to be faithful in imparting the teachings of the church to the faithful.

Born on 22 July 1970 to Pathikkal P M Kuriakose and Sosamma, His Grace belongs to the Perumbavur Bethel Suloko Church in the Angamali diocese, India. His schooling was at the Asramam High School, Perumbavur. He took the Degree and Post Graduation in Mathematics from the Union Christian College at Alwaye. Later he completed the B.Ed. course from the Mahatma Gandhi University.

It was the age of 12, on 28 October 1982, Metropolitan Mor Tithus Yeldho was ordained deacon by Mor Athanasius Paulose, the late Metropolitan for the Evangelical Association of the East. In 1997 he went to the Patriarchal Cathedral at Damascus. On September 5, 1999 he was ordained Ramban by His Holiness the Patriarch and on 26th ordained as Kassisso. The Metropolitan had his theological education from the Patriarchal Seminary at Damascus and the Malankara Syrian Orthodox Seminary at Udayagiri, India. During this period he had the opportunity to have studies at the Syrian Orthodox Monasteries of Jerusalem, Turkey, Holland, Germany and Switzerland. After the demise of Mor Gregorios in 1999, he was appointed the administrator of the Perumpally St.George Church. Later he was deputed to New York and was serving different churches in the Malankara Archdiocese of North America till recently.

From 1995 to 2001, he was actively involved in YMCA organization as its regional vice chairman and also as its National Executive Board member.

We were blessed with the presence of Archbishop H.E. Mor Ivanios Mathews who conducted our Sunday Mass. The St. Mary's Women's League was inaugurated today by his grace and we pray for its success. We give him our prayers for his journey home.

Upcoming CHURCH PERUNNAL.

This is just a reminder. The church Perunnal is on August 17 ( Malayalam service ) . Please come one and all and celibrate with us the Perunnal in honour of Virgin Mary, Mother of Jesus and share in the blessings. One family has kindly agreed to host the lunch for this special occasion.

As usual, there will be a prayer meeting on Saturday August 16, at 6.30 PM, in the church.

Volunteers needed: For perunnal decorations, please come to church by about 2.30 PM on Saturday.
